Invest in Girls Champions of Financial Literacy Breakfast

2024 Invest in Girls Champions of Financial Literacy Breakfast

Invest in Girls has a dual purpose – to usher in the next generation of financially literate girls and to introduce them to careers in the world of finance, with a focus on girls of color and girls from low-income communities. With less than 30% of women feeling empowered to take action to change their personal finances and only 10% of senior managers in the finance industry being women of color, it is imperative to start early with young women to ensure they can both take control of their own financial lives and access leadership roles in the finance industry.

2023 Invest in Girls Champions of Financial Literacy Breakfast

Thursday November 9, 2023

Thank you to all who attended this year’s Invest in Girls Champions of Financial Literacy Breakfast, our annual event which celebrates role models and advocates who see the promise in young women. The funding we receive provides free personal finance courses, mentoring, exposure to careers in finance through industry trips, speakers and internships, and, just as important, a supportive community for high school girls across the country. This year’s breakfast featured Valerie Mosley, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Upward Wealth and Rebecca Patterson, CEE Board Chair, Former Chief Investment Strategist Bridgewater Associates. Valerie’s story is so powerful and she is a great advocate for both the importance of financial well-being and women in finance. We were also so proud of our IIG students for sharing their stories and experiences!

Thanks to our generous sponsors and supporters, we raised almost $220,000. With this support, we can continue to create future generations of financially literate girls and increase the number of women working in finance. Already looking forward to next year!

Wednesday April 26, 2023
The Plaza Hotel, New York City

Each year, the Council for Economic Education gathers with industry colleagues, advocates, and friends for a festive and illuminating evening to honor extraordinary leaders who promote economic and financial literacy to create a better-informed society. Our honorees participate in a fireside chat–always a highlight of the event–on the state of the economy and thoughts on the future.

In addition to naming recipients of the prestigious Visionary Award, CEE announces the winners of the Alfred P. Sloan Teaching Champion Award which recognizes outstanding high school economics teachers from the New York metropolitan area.

The 2023 Visionary Awards honorees included Brandon Copeland, 10 Year NFL Veteran, Speaker, Educator and Advocate, Richard Fisher, Senior Advisor to Barclays and Former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Michelle Meyer, Chief Economist of U.S. Mastercard Economics Institute, and Hal Varian, Chief Economist at Google. The honorees participated in a fireside chat, moderated by CEE Board Chair Rebecca Patterson, where honorees shared their thoughts on how education and the U.S. economy are intertwined.

This event raised over $500,000, which will help CEE ensure every student in America is taught essential financial and economic basics from kindergarten through high school.

63rd Financial Literacy & Economic Education Conference

September 27-28, 2024

Thank you to all of the teachers that joined us in Cleveland on September 27-28 for our 63rd Financial Literacy and Economic Education Conference! It is always great to see teachers from across the nation gather to share ideas on how to bring economics and personal finance into their teaching.

At the Conference, teachers had an all-access pass to over 45 sessions led by experts in the field, including hands-on workshops, lectures, and roundtable conversations. The overwhelming feedback from attending teachers was that our Conference is an excellent opportunity to earn fall CEUs, network with like-minded teachers, bring back high-quality resources and lesson plans to their school, while also exploring all that Cleveland and the surrounding area had to offer!

The 2024 Diamond Gala

Formerly “Visionary Awards Benefit”
The Pierre Hotel, 2 East 61st St, New York, NY 10065

Each year, the Council for Economic Education gathers with industry colleagues, advocates, and friends for a festive and illuminating evening to honor extraordinary leaders who promote economic and financial literacy to create a better-informed society. Our honorees participate in a fireside chat–always a highlight of the event–on the state of the economy and thoughts on the future.

This year, we celebrated our 75th Anniversary at CEE’s Diamond Gala. It was an incredible night! CEE students and teachers inspired us by sharing their experiences and the fireside chat featuring our honorees Glenn Hutchins and Gary Stern, moderated by Steve Leisman, was engaging and informative.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, CEE’s Diamond Gala has already raised over $788,000, more than 10% of our 75th Anniversary Campaign goal of $7.5M.

Celebrate with us and connect with others who share our mission to help youth gain financial and economic knowledge for life!
